Valley Mastiff Rescue
Making Them Feel At Home

Everyone meet Violet! she is a 2 year old Neapolitan Mastiff and she makes quite the impression at 138 pounds. She was painfully surrendered by her family out of love, Violet was in the wrong environnement for her, she was living with 2 herding dogs and she was a tad confused about where she came in the picture. Neo's are quite sensitive and Violet had to be the princess, so there was tension. So for her own happiness and safety, she is with us. She adapted well, already saw the vet because she has a severe skin infection. We gave the lady an antiseptic bath and she gave us one too! Yes she drools...a lot! Violet has a gentle loving heart and she has made mine turn to jello: i love her to death.
Like the new logo??? our wish is to bring awareness for BIG dogs and mastiffs and try to bring the popularity of BIG DOGS back. Lets face it, mastiffs were there first!! And to think Dogue de Bordeaux were almost brought to extinction after WW2. Not fair. The bigger the better!! We will show the world that there are other breeds, that BIG is great and BIG is beautiful. Their hearts are as big as their body, if not more! We love our big dogs, we love our gentle giants, we love the super sized pooh, we love the drool and we love the majestic beauty of these dogs. Believe in BIG my friends, we do!!!
Sarah our 12 year old volunteer baked some cookies and sold lemonade at her garage sale and raised $180.06 for our rescue!!! This little lady has been a volunteer at our rescue for the past 6 months and has given over 200 hours of her time. The dogs love her calm and loving approach. She also has a love for horses. She has a heart of gold and having her on the team makes a world of difference.
On May 4, 2012, Diamond Pet Foods announced a voluntary recall of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Dog Food. The Kirkland dog food recall mentioned in the news bulletin includes: * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Adult Dog Lamb, Rice & Vegetable Formula (Best Before December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Adult Dog Chicken, Rice & Vegetable Formula (Best Before December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Mature Dog Chicken, Rice & Egg Formula (Best Before December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Healthy Weight Dog Formulated with Chicken & Vegetables (Best Before December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Maintenance Cat Chicken & Rice Formula (Best Before December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Super Premium Healthy Weight Cat Formula (December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) * Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs (December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) How to Know If You Have a Recalled Product If your pet food has been recalled, the production codes on the back of bags will have both a number “3” in the 10th digit and an “X” in the 11th digit. The best before dates for the recalled brands listed are December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013. The following diagram illustrates how to read the production code and best-before date: The dog food recall affects only products distributed in the following U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Canada. * Alabama * Connecticut * Delaware * Florida * Georgia * Maryland * Massachusetts * New Hampshire * New Jersey * New York * North Carolina * Pennsylvania * South Carolina * Tennessee * Vermont * Virginia * Canada * Puerto Rico Of course, wider distribution through other pet food channels is always possible. What to Do? Salmonella is serious business – for both you and your pet. So, if you can confirm your dog’s food is one of the products being recalled, stop feeding or handling it immediately. If you’ve discarded the packaging (something we recommend you never do) – or you’re in any way in doubt – do not take chances. Be safe. Stop feeding or handling the product anyway.

There's just one little thing: we received a mountain of donations to sell in our NEXT garage sale!!! So we are planning for June in the Wakefield Area. So keep your unwanted stuff, hide it in a corner somewhere and lets make it a date for June!!!
This is Archie a VERY VERY large Dogue de Bordeaux. In all respects to Archie, as he has passed, we decided to challenge anyone with a bigger Dogue than our Bruno & Archie to contact us at the rescue. This is all in great fun!! So Archie seems heavier than Bruno as Bruno is 186 pounds. But Bruno beats Archie at the neck size by a full 6 inches!! Bruno wears a collar for calves...yes a cow collar. Its the only thing we could find, thanks to one of our supporters named Stephanie. So check out the video of me measuring Bruno and lets get this challenge on the road!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObIlyj_8sB4
